Getting started
System requirements
Supported operating systems, hardware guidance, and network notes for Eclipse.
Eclipse runs on artist workstations and dedicated farm machines. Exact GPU and RAM needs follow the DCCs and render engines you use. Eclipse itself is lightweight compared to a production render.
Operating systems
| Role | Supported |
|---|---|
| Eclipse Render Manager (artist app) | Windows 10/11, macOS (Apple Silicon & Intel) |
| Coordinator | Windows, macOS |
| Render Node | Windows, macOS |
| Linux | Not supported |
Hardware
- CPU: modern multi-core processor (more cores help CPU renderers such as Karma CPU and Arnold CPU paths).
- GPU: NVIDIA recommended for GPU engines (Redshift, Octane, Karma XPU, Cycles GPU, V-Ray GPU where applicable). Apple GPUs are supported for engines that run on macOS.
- RAM: match your heaviest scene; farm nodes should hold at least what a single frame needs.
- Disk: fast local or shared storage for scenes, caches, and outputs. Distributed mode expects a reachable shared project root.
Network (Distributed)
Farm machines must reach the coordinator over your LAN (or VPN). Open the ports configured in Distributed settings, and ensure every node can read the same scene and texture paths.
