Local vs Distributed

The header toggle switches Eclipse between Local and Distributed. Both modes share the same product chrome; the middle of the dashboard changes to match the workflow.

Local

Local mode is a classic render queue on the machine in front of you. Jobs run one after another (or as configured) on this workstation. Use it for lookdev, single-machine finals, and overnight queues without networking.

• Jobs appear in Running, In Queue, Completed, Failed, and related filters.
• Logs and Preview panels stay attached to the selected job.
• Queue controls: Pause, Stop, and Clear Jobs List.

Distributed

Distributed mode talks to a coordinator. Frames are planned into slices and claimed by render nodes. You monitor farm jobs, the network map, shared projects, and node health from the same app.

• Requires a reachable coordinator and at least one render node (this machine can be both artist and node in small setups).
• Scenes and outputs must live on storage every node can read/write.
• Tabs cover Jobs, Network Map, Projects, and related farm views.
